Marble Countertops
Marble is the classic luxury countertop. Carrara, Calacatta, and other quarried varieties bring soft veining, cool surfaces, and a timeless aesthetic that's been used in fine kitchens and baths for centuries. Honest disclosure: marble is a softer stone than granite or quartz — it etches and patinates with use. For many homeowners, that's part of the appeal.
Product Description
Marble is a metamorphic stone composed mostly of calcium carbonate. That chemistry means acids — lemon juice, wine, vinegar — will etch the polished surface, leaving a duller mark. Honed marble (a matte finish) hides etching better than polished and is what many designers specify in kitchens for this reason.
Marble is heat-resistant, cool to the touch (which is why bakers love it), and develops a patina over years of use. We seal marble at installation and recommend resealing annually. Pairs beautifully with inset or Shaker cabinets in a historic or transitional kitchen.
